Drawn Away to a Distorted Gospel

Listen to podcast audio:

Joshua West joins the Gary Wilkerson Podcast to talk about why we have to watch out for any distortion of the gospel. He explains that an understanding of truth has to begin with a biblical understanding of Christ and salvation.

Key Points from the Podcast

  • There may be topics within Christianity that we don’t all agree about, but if we get the gospel wrong, we get everything wrong.

  • The true gospel is not man-centered or from man. It is from God and Christ-centered. It humbles man and exalts Christ. It is for all people everywhere.

  • We are told to contend for the faith and to fight the good fight of faith, so false teaching should not be taken lightly. Paul said those who preach a false gospel are accursed.

  • Any preaching or teaching that adds to or takes away from the gospel recorded in God’s Word is a false gospel.

  • The Bible tells us false teachers would rise among us. We shouldn’t be surprised to learn that there are false teachers in our Christian community today.

  • Charles Spurgeon told us that discernment isn’t knowing the difference between truth and untruth, but between truth and almost truth.
