The Truth about Pioneering
While the desire to pioneer in ministry is excellent, believers should also have the humility to remember that others have almost certainly gone before us, and we still require God to sustain us.
World Challenge, Inc. was founded by Reverend David Wilkerson in 1971 and served as a corporate umbrella for his worldwide conferences, book and tract publication, video production, evangelism, literature distribution, church planting, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers and many charitable outreaches.
Today, World Challenge shares the message of the gospel through mission outreaches, literature distribution and more. Sermons from David and Gary Wilkerson are shared monthly through the Pulpit Series Newsletter to hundreds of thousands of people. Missions outreaches include orphanages, overseas widows fund, disaster relief, and community development.
Gary Wilkerson became president of World Challenge in 2011 and moves forward with the same heart and vision as his father.
Gary Wilkerson, our president, has a very clear vision at World Challenge to preach the uncompromising gospel, equipping and encouraging church leaders. Sound doctrine will lead us to examine our salvation and Savior with holy awe and move us beyond the routine into a deeper, more intimate relationship with Christ.
If the body of Christ is on fire for the Lord, we will see a move of God in the world. Then our greatest desire will be to see God glorify himself through our lives, whether through signs and wonders or common service.
World Challenge is equipping leaders and planting the church where it doesn’t exist. Where material poverty and spiritual poverty overlap, that’s where we want to serve.
As Jesus entered communities 2,000 years ago, he focused on people’s spiritual and physical afflictions. The church of today is called to continue Christ's work, spreading the news of salvation and caring for those in need.
We aim to walk alongside church leaders and indigenous ministries that are already working in disadvantaged communities. We provide training, mentorship, and financial assistance so they can effectively serve their people in need. We care for the widow and orphan, providing shelter, safe homes, education, food, and medical attention as their needs require.
