Together we can Build Hope for

Orphans & Widows

WHY BUILDINGS?

“We cannot rescue them all—but we are called to respond boldly to the ones God places in our path”

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction...”

JAMES 1:27

Because someone once made room, the lives of orphans and widows have been changed forever.

The Build Hope Campaign continues that story—building six Hope Centers where the love of Christ will shelter, restore, and raise up generations of orphans and widows.

OUR COMMITMENT

‘No longer neglected and abandoned’

 Blessings,

John Bailey
Vice President of Ministry and Operations

  • Provide essential nutrition for those escaping from poverty.
  • Give any medical attention needed, especially for those orphans who have lived on the street or come from dangerous home situations.
  • Place them in Christian homes or Ministry Centers that will cherish and care for them. Most children have endured great trauma, so a nurturing environment is essential.
  • Connect them with a local church that will both invite them into a relationship with Christ and help them start growing as genuine biblical disciples of Christ.
  • Offer educational support and school supplies for young orphans and skills training for older orphans. Breaking the cycles of generational poverty will always be our goal.
Operating in the Most Difficult Places
  • Focused on the unreached and persecuted
  • Prioritizing regions with the greatest physical and spiritual need
Church-Centered Care Model
  • Equipping healthy churches to care for orphans and widows
  • Training leaders to sustain transformation locally

DONOR STORY

It has been 19 years since I first drew near to God, and in that time “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20) Through my transformation, God taught me that “pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. (James 1:27)

With a prepared heart, David Wilkerson’s article in the Pulpit Series Newsletter where he shared of the need to be an advocate for the poorest of the poor was my opportunity to put my faith into action. As World Challenge evolved, Please Pass the Bread turned into World Poverty Solutions, and today it is known as the Orphans & Widows fund. Through my financial support of the World Challenge’s Orphans & Widows fund, my faith is proved by my works, and in so doing I have discovered that the heart of God is turned towards the Orphans & Widows. As one who has found the heart of God, I am forever changed, and I will not be moved.

A VISION TO CARE FOR MANY MORE

Tens of thousands have been rescued in this year alone, but so many more are in need.

Each life rescued from poverty and despair is a life restored to lasting hope.

We are halfway through 2025 and have doubled the amount of Orphans and Widows being brought into loving care. The work has started in countries like Afghanistan, Cuba, Burkina Faso, Vietnam, Pakistan where the Christian message is dim and poverty is extreme.

With the work expanding to 35 countries this year alone, we are aiming to increase to 30 more countries and serve tens of thousands more.

Rescuing the Little Children

“I don’t remember much about my parents. I was very small when I was left at the railway station. I don’t know why it happened. I just remember feeling very scared, hungry, and cold. I watched people walk by, but no one would look at me. I thought maybe no one cared if I lived or died. I slept on the platform with an empty stomach, and I cried many nights, thinking that my life was over.”

Dinesh was one of the lucky children. Our World Challenge partners found him at the train station before he was caught or sold off by traffickers. Since they couldn’t locate his family, they took him in and gave him clean clothes, food, and a bed.

“At the Zion orphanage there are many kids like me,” Dinesh explained. “Almost everybody has lost their parents. One of the uncles who takes care of us told me about Jesus. He said that Jesus loves all children, especially those who feel lost and alone. At first, I didn’t understand. I thought, ‘How could anyone love me when even my own parents left me?’ But uncle explained that God is our heavenly Father, who never leaves us, no matter what happens.”

That promise touched Dinesh’s heart, and he began praying to Jesus every day. He talks to Jesus when he’s sad or scared and also when he’s happy. He told us proudly, “I believe now that even though my life began with pain, God has a special plan for me.”

Not only is Dinesh receiving food and a good education now, but he is also growing in his knowledge of the Lord, being taught Scripture and how Jesus enters into daily life. Dreaming of the future and how he can serve God with his life is now part of Dinesh’s thoughts. “When I grow up, I want to become a policeman. I want to help children who are lost and alone, just like I once was. I want to keep them safe and tell them that God loves them too.”

He added, “Thank you for giving me a second chance in life. I know now, I am not alone, I am loved, I am cared for, and I have hope because of Jesus and because of you.”

Today, Dinesh is not only surviving but beginning to find renewed strength and purpose, thanks to the compassionate outreach made possible by partners like you.

Thank You.

Your partnership has made a difference.

Together we can make the rescue of tens of thousands of orphans and widows that are still uncared for.

We can secure a hope for them by God’s grace and His glory.
