Sai’s Story of Hope
Through your compassion, children affected by HIV are thriving with hope, purpose, and the love of Jesus.
Like many boys his age, fourteen-year-old Sai* is full of hope and ambition. He loves to play cricket, enjoys studying math and science, and hopes to become a doctor. But Sai’s young life has been marked by incredible loss and hardship that no child should ever have to endure.
Born with HIV, Sai lost both of his parents to the same illness. Sadly, HIV stigma is still widespread in many parts of India, and children like Sai are often rejected, isolated, and denied the care and support they need. Many are forced to live on the margins of society and are treated as untouchable. Sai had no one and nowhere to go.
Yet thanks to the compassion of World Challenge supporters, Sai is no longer alone. He now lives in a loving home where HIV-affected children receive nutritious meals, education, medical care, and, most importantly, they are introduced to the love of Jesus.
Through the faithful work of our ministry partner, children who were once rejected are now loved. Their mission is simple: “to bring hope, dignity, and care to those who are suffering and forgotten by society.”
Today, Sai is thriving and hopeful about his future as he continues his education and pursues his dream of becoming a physician. When asked about his favorite Bible story, he shared the story of the five loaves and two fish from Matthew 14. What a beautiful reminder that God can multiply even the smallest gift to bless many people. Because of your generosity, Sai is one of those blessings!
Yet many more children like Sai are waiting for help. Our partner is currently seeking land and a larger home so they can care for even more HIV-affected children, along with widows and elderly individuals who need shelter, compassion, and daily support. Their guiding belief is, “Jesus loves and cares for them all.”
At World Challenge, we intentionally step into places with the greatest need. Your generosity is rescuing vulnerable children and restoring dignity to those who would otherwise be forgotten. Thank you for living out pure religion (James 1:27) with us!
