![]() Medical Clinic in the Philippines05/21/2010 — Bettina Marayag |

The trip to the Philippines and Cambodia was fruitful. The Lord gave us grace, favor, strength, and except for a late departure from New York, the rest of the trip was smooth as silk.
Dr. Jack Rice of World Challenge treating patients at a medical clinic in the PhilippinesDr. Rice joined the doctors, dentists and volunteers from the Philippines and in six days, they were able to treat close to 2,000 people (adults, young people, children and babies). In addition to all the feeding sites where we held the clinic, we were also able to hold one at Quezon City jail. The team not only ministered through medical outreach but part of the triage was ministry of the Word and many were prayed for.
We also met with key leaders in Quezon City, and they would like to hold the pastors conference in Manila sooner than later.
The meeting in Cambodia was very quiet. Not sure what to make of it but as they prayed in closing, they are so grateful that an opportunity like this would come to their nation. I guess we have to wait and see.
Please pray for Cambodia. I was told by our hosts that Christianity is fairly new in this country, since about 1993. Missionaries from the US came and brought the gospel and today there are thriving churches and hundreds of house churches. I am convinced that there were believers even before communist times as historically the Lord has a remnant everywhere. They ask for prayer, that more churches be planted and more believers come to the Lord.
We also got to visit the killing fields and as some of you know that there were millions of people killed during the genocide. Our hosts told us 3 million people, the guide told us 2.5 million, other sources said there were 2 million. Either way, it is evil in its very core. Also, please pray for the Philippines. National elections were just held last Monday. Country profile https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/rp.html
Once again, I am grateful for your prayers.
Till next trip…
