COVER LETTER

October 23, 2006

Dearly Beloved:

THE LORD GUIDE AND KEEP YOU.

I believe one of the greatest needs of the hour is for more praying. We are called to pray one for another. Paul, the apostle, mentioned bringing others to God’s throne of grace. He told the church, “He (God) will deliver us, you also helping together by prayer for us…” In other words, “All the prayers of many saints joined together is a mighty force in heaven.”

God joins prayer to deliverance. “He shall call upon me, and I will answer: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.” God not only delivers his people by prayer, but also keeps them from evil and preserves them till the heavenly kingdom comes. The devil knows this, and that is why he does all in his power to distract and keep us from consistent prayer.

God has decreed that all his promises are conveyed through the prayer of faith. God knows all — he knows what we need before we ask — and he has promised to do the impossible. Yet it all comes to pass through prayer. Christ was the fullness of God, the very fulfillment of all God’s promises. Still, he spent nights in prayer, showing his dependence on the Father.

“I will do this, but I will be inquired (sought) of by the house of Judah” (Ezekiel 36:37). Do you see it? God said, “I will do it. I will answer you, deliver you. But first you will ask me, seek me.” The promise was given, but the people had to lay hold of it by prayer and seeking God.

Never in history has there been such a need of prayer for spiritual leaders — for those in ministry who have faithfully proclaimed the pure and complete Word of God. Satan is aiming his most powerful attacks against ministers who have not compromised — against true shepherds, the leaders of God’s last-days army. Are God’s people so focused on their own needs and trials that they have no time to truly pray for those who minister life, truth and the manna of God’s Word to them?

I am only one of many who minister to the needs of hurting souls. And I do it with great joy and thankfulness. But after 50 years of preaching, writing, encouraging and praying for others, I must borrow the words of Paul: “Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me” (Romans 15:30).

Hundreds of thousands around the world receive our messages by mail and Internet. If only a fraction would stand with us in prayer, God would pour out upon us more of his Spirit and revelation. I cry out for more of his Spirit, more mercy, a greater anointing.

God knows about the many ministries we support all over the world — not just with one-time gifts, but with regular monthly support, year after year: feeding programs, orphanages, drug rehab ministries. You are welcome to ask for a list of all these outreaches we support.

Please pray God will continue to supply. He always has — he always will. God bless you and answer your earnest prayers.

His bondservant,
DAVID WILKERSON
