COVER LETTER
Dearly Beloved:
MAY GOD BLESS YOU WITH MUCH PEACE AND JOY.
We are pleased to send you our Pocket Promise Calendar for 2007. I have included 100 of my favorite Scripture promises that I have been so blessed by over my 50 years of ministry. I pray the Holy Spirit will use them to comfort and strengthen you throughout the year.
I would like to use this letter to speak about anger. As I was meditating, I came across a letter on my desk from a sister in Christ who wrote, “I prayed about a certain situation in my life and my prayer was not answered. The very opposite happened. I allowed unbelief to develop in my heart. My unbelief caused me to be angry with God. It frightened me to think that I, as a human being, would be angry with the living God. I have not only seen change in the situation, but my faith has been restored. I still trust God completely with the situation.”
I have seen over the years that with most people who harbor anger against someone, bitterness follows. If not delivered, they end up hating God, even though they would not admit it. So often, God does not answer us according to our petitions, but he answers in a way that tests his faithfulness in our eyes. You may think that your prayer has been denied — but what you see happening instead may be part of his perfect plan, even though you think it is a disaster. You see, God has a way of accomplishing a fuller, more blessed outcome, by turning apparent disaster into a glorious miracle.
Anger, resentment, unforgiveness — all are of Satan and result in hardness of heart. These are root sins that ruin and damn many people worldwide. I do not know who I am writing to on this subject; you may be one who is free of all anger. But we must take heed, lest a little root of anger is left to sprout and grow into a life-controlling addiction.
Beloved, I do not write these letters to flatter people, nor to raise funds. I simply hear a word from the Holy Spirit, I take my pen, and I let the words flow onto the paper. I know God is speaking to someone reading this — and he's saying, LAY DOWN THAT ANGER. GO TO PRAYER THIS VERY DAY, AND ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO PLUCK OUT OF YOUR HEART ANY REMNANT OF BITTERNESS OR UNFORGIVENESS. EVERY DAY, EVERY HOUR THAT YOU LET IT GO UNCHECKED, IT TAKES DEEPER ROOT UNTIL YOU MAY BE OVERPOWERED BY IT — AND END UP DISTRUSTING THE LORD GOD.
God bless and keep you from all the schemes and attacks of Satan. May the Lord give you rest and a quiet spirit. He is with you — believe it.
Your prayers and gifts for our ministries to the needy around the world are needed and most appreciated.
In Christ,
DAVID WILKERSON
