In Guatemala, a group of adults busy themselves fabricating wood frames they will eventually sell. In Portugal, a similar group runs a metal shop, a laundry and a bakery. In Siberia, adults make jewelry for income and mentor the young people who assist them. In Swaziland, a group of families—some of whom have HIV/AIDs, including children—cultivate land and participate in a fish farm. Groups in Kenya and Israel are equally industrious.

I’ve known personally the sheer joy of bringing food to starving children in Africa. I have been humbled to see God provide life-saving medicines to rural mountain villagers in Peru.
