Scripture says a day will come when God shakes everything that can be shaken. The only thing that will remain after this great shaking is that which can’t be shaken. What is it that can’t be shaken by God’s judgment? It is the church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I have been saying that I believe the present shaking in America and throughout the world is a manifestation of God’s wrath. The Lord is laying bare all the foundations that men have so trusted. The Psalms speak of this:

We Christians struggle so hard to find the will of God for our lives. Once we believe we’ve found his will for us, we labor hard to see it fulfilled in our lives.

I am convinced this struggle to find God’s will — to live in it, walk in it and see its fulfillment — can become our greatest battle. And the battle intensifies whenever we find ourselves in dire circumstances.

“THE GREAT DEPRESSION”

Newspapers are screaming headlines like this one and others: “Worldwide Economic Collapse,” “Falling Into Depression,” “Conditions Worsen.”

But I want to focus on another depression that is gripping many today. It goes beyond finances and the economy. This great depression has to do with personal struggles that multitudes of God’s people are experiencing. Many saints are facing personal, spiritual and physical battles that depress soul, mind and spirit.

There is something very powerful and awesome going on in the world today! God is at work doing something hidden and quiet — and it is so supernatural, it's beyond human comprehension. Yet what He is doing right now is going to affect the whole world in these last days.

God is preparing a small but powerful army of Christians! This army is going to be the most dedicated on the face of the earth. And the Lord will come forth to command them to do exploits and shake hell. He is going to close out the ages with a pure, devoted, fearless remnant!

“Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith” (Habakkuk 2:4, my italics). The phrase I emphasize here is familiar to Christians all over the world. For centuries “living by faith” has motivated the daily decisions of believers in every generation.

Satan’s great work against God’s people is discouragement. Within moments of enjoying a spiritual victory, every believer becomes a target for the powers of hell. The devil attacks us with lies about our marriage, our friendships, our calling. He replays in our minds every sin, failure and foolish thing we’ve ever done. By the time he’s finished we’re crying, “Lord, I’ll never make it!”
