10/3/11
In drought–stricken Africa, 12 million people are in a life–and–death battle to find enough food. In Haiti, tens of thousands of earthquake victims live in heat–saturated, flood–prone tents.

Disaster strikes. A nation is shaken by a violent earthquake, a devouring flood, an unquenchable fire.
Haiti: A Desperate Cry
12/13/10
Perhaps what makes the Haiti report for December 2010 so difficult to write is that it is so much like the Haiti report from ten months ago.
Very little has changed.
Uganda: Experiencing Love, Life, and Lasting Change

During its devastating twenty-year civil war, Northern Uganda suffered indescribable horrors of mass deaths, widespread destruction and extreme poverty. The ever-present violence caused nearly 95 percent of the population to be displaced.
Hope is Rising

Not long ago, when a northern Uganda child lifted his hand to his mouth to eat, all he held were a few grains of rice. After that meager bit of food, he went to sleep hungry. Today, through the impact of God’s people, the horror and despair of such a scene has begun to change—and rapidly.
The Fruits of Their Labor
06/18/2009 — Charles WeaverWe were traveling by SUV over the worst roads I’ve ever been on; up and over mountains which had very little vegetation or soil due to massive deforestation. Haiti is typically known as the poorest country in the western hemisphere, with two-thirds of its population not having a formal job; but we had traveled there to visit a few programs that were making tremendous strides in reaching communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and in training its people how to change the health of their community in spite of apparent lack of resources.

Sharing a Gift
02/17/2009 — Christopher R. WiggintonFollowing is an e-mail update we received from Milla Happonen of Caring Hands in Uganda:
Robert comes from a family of five kids. His mother’s HIV infection caused her medical expenses to be so high that she was unable to pay for house rent. She ended up sleeping on the street with Robert. The other children were put in an orphanage. A good Samaritan allowed her and Robert to sleep in a church. We taught her to make beads and slowly she regained her strength. She got her children back, pays for rent and has enough to eat. The children went to school this week.

Our policy is that all gifts designated for a specific project be applied to that project. Occasionally we receive more funds than can be wisely used for the designated project. When that happens, we use those funds to meet other similar pressing needs in the same country to advance the gospel.
