Progress in Northern Uganda

The war in Uganda has ended, but the massive crisis has left in its wake overwhelming human suffering and need.

Over the past two decades, as a result of horrendous civil conflict, tens of thousands of children, some as young as eight years old, have been kidnapped, forced into armed combat and required to commit unspeakable atrocities. Upon returning home after the war many of these child warriors face the cold reality that their parents are dead and they have no place to go. More than one and a half million men, women and children have been displaced. There are food shortages, unclean water and school buildings left decimated.

World Challenge is not only deeply moved by what we have witnessed in this devastated region but feel called by God to do something about the urgent pressing needs. After seeking the Lord’s direction, World Challenge has relocated a highly experienced missionary family into the region, where they are coordinating ministry efforts to bring hope to those in pain.

Our mission is to complete the building of a church, which will also serve as a school for children who were orphaned after being forced to be soldiers. We will provide food and clean water and eventually housing for the orphans. Even now they come to our not-yet-roofed center for food and schooling. These ministries are beacons of light and hope in this deeply troubled country. We are very excited to witness the growth in Christ in adults and children. It is all focused on Christ.

We invite you to continue to stand with us as a part of the present and lasting solution God desires to bring to the struggling people here. Once again, be assured that 100 percent of what is given toward this project goes directly to the ministry serving the poor. Hope is rising in Northern Uganda, needs are being met, and God is being glorified.

We take joy in literally fulfilling the Lord’s commandments in Matthew 25 to minister to the needs of the poor. Thank you for your vital support.
