Camp Hope is an 18-month discipleship ministry for women with life-controlling problems such as drug and alcohol addiction, homelessness, and abusive relationships. It is a place where women and their children can receive healing and restoration from past wounds and hope for the future through Christ.
Camp Hope residents begin with an intimate relationship with God. Through personal devotional time, Bible classes, church services, and prayer meetings, the women learn about God and His will for their lives. Children are home schooled and also learn about God and His love and purposes for them. As mothers deal with their own life issues and experience the healing power of the Holy Spirit, they in turn are able to teach their children. It is a wonderful blessing to see these women’s lives changed and transformed as they choose to believe the Lord and understand that He has a plan for them.
In a Child’s Words
“Hi, I’m Jack and I’m 10 years old. My favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:13: ‘If you seek Me, you will find Me if you search for Me with all your heart.’ I used to go to church with my grandparents, but things with Mom and me were messed up. At Camp Hope my mom got saved. Now things with Mom and me are much better. She’s teaching me lots of stuff. I learned how to worship and praise Jesus. I learned how to pray, and I learned how to study God’s Word. I accepted Jesus into my heart and was baptized. I have a hard time with anger. That seems to be one of my problems, but when I ‘seek God with all my heart’ I find Him. He helps me. I thank God for helping my mom and me and for Camp Hope.”
One Mother’s Testimony
“When I arrived at Camp Hope my plan was to simply get here, be restored, and then go home to my children. I would be a good mom and a good church-going citizen. I originally thought this place would be punishment for my wrongdoings and that after the eighteen months were done I’d go on my happy way. God had a different plan.
“My lifestyle proved that I had no relationship with Christ. I didn’t know how to pray or see God’s hand in situations. Through early morning devotions at Camp Hope, guidance from staff, and classes, I quickly learned why I was here: so that my children and I could be healed together. My children joined me at Camp Hope three weeks later. The Lord has done miracles in our minds and hearts since then—healing all kinds of anger, unforgiveness, and rejection. This didn’t happen overnight or without the Holy Spirit dealing with us. He had to get hold of my thought patterns and deliver me from a mind of delusions and deception. I have learned to depend only on God’s Word, and through repentance and forgiveness I have been changed. That’s truth! The entire future of my children has changed in a matter of months thanks to His love, mercy, and longsuffering.”
