Christ-Centered Schools Reaching Needy Children in Bangladesh

Among the litter-filled slums of the most densely populated nation in the world, God is raising up a mighty testimony. This nation is one of the poorest in the world. Seven million people live in the capital, Dhaka; the majority live on less than one dollar a day. Multitudes are wandering the streets, homeless and hungry. Hundreds of children die each year of preventable diseases and contaminated water supplies. Only 41% of the population can read or write.

Among the poorest of the poor street children in Bangladesh, World Challenge is bringing hope through Jesus to these precious little children by helping develop and support schools.

Right in the middle of the worst slums of Dhaka we are providing the resources to operate four schools that provide daily care for needy children. These Christ-centered schools are offering love, nurture and daily nutritious meals. Hungry children delight over the bread, bananas, rice and soup. As the kids see how much they are loved and cared for and hear that it is all because of Jesus, they are turning their hearts and lives over to Christ.

These schools are impacting the lives of children and many are coming to know & love Christ.

Without the help of these four schools many would be suffering in severe circumstances. Teachers who serve here see their task as missionaries first and educators second and they are clearly demonstrating God’s amazing love.

These schools are impacting the lives of precious children and many are coming to know and love Christ. Most have never heard of Jesus before they come through the doors of these schools. Now they know Jesus and are hearing the Word of God. God is raising up a testimony to the city through these little ones. Sadly there are still thousands more who would love to attend these school. In the future we trust God will allow us to help expand the reach of these centers of hope.

The schools have recently added a new outreach to the families and are regularly sending one bag of rice home for the whole family. Now whole families are wondering who this Jesus is that makes people love others so much.
