City of Refuge - Colombia07/15/2011 — Keith P. Holloway
Not long ago the city of Medellin, Colombia was only known for it’s diabolical drug trade, under the firm grip of the Escobar’s. This vice and violence filled city of almost 4 million was rapidly decaying from within, with thousands of lives captured by addiction but ten’s of thousands of family members and society paying the price. But over the past 20 years, things have begun to change...
World Challenge began partnering with and supporting a vital Christ-centered drug rehab that is literally a “City of Refuge.” Founded 18 years ago in an area beset with sin, shame and death, this ministry has now impacted over 10,000 men, women and families with the redemption, hope and life of Christ. While still reclaiming lost souls from the dark, dangerous streets of the city, true discipleship is continuing by prayer, training, fasting, and rehabilitation. So many have been changed and redirected as positive witnesses of the Gospel into society and reintroduced back into families. Local neighborhoods are feeling the impact of this ministry’s affect upon the once undesirables!
By World Challenge being a long term and faithful supporter, this ministry is continuing to present Christ as Savior and Lord to those whom have only known the brutal servitude to a life of addiction and despair. Will you join us as we continue to hold this ministry and it’s ‘disciples’ up in prayer and practically help to bear a burden of finances so they may reach those once called ‘unreachable’?
